"Half the team is gone -- I wish them the best," said Brown.
As the wise, fictitious, and eponymous truant student from the film Ferris Bueller once said, "Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it." And when star Boston Celtics forward Jaylen Brown took a look around at who was left from the roster he played on in the 2024-25 NBA regular season, life had moved pretty fast indeed.
Speaking on a stream he was recently participating in on social media, the Georgia native commented about the moves made by the Celtics' front office this offseason for the first time. "Half the team is gone -- I wish them the best," said Brown via Celtics Blog reporter Noa Dalzell.
"I appreciate them," added the the University of California - Berkeley alum. "They were great teammates… it’s a new era, everything has kind of changed and shifted."
The energy has again shifted for Brown and the Celtics, though this time it's more of a downshift to prepare for what will be a developmental season up and down the roster. The Celtics forward is looking at the exigences of being the team's top option while costar on the wing Jayson Tatum recover from a torn Achilles while also guiding a cohort of prospects into the Celtics way.
A new era indeed, Brown and the Celtics are well-positioned to return to contention sooner than later. But key to it all is stopping to look around once in a while, just to make sure you're not missing anything important -- and Brown has not just read the syllabus -- now he's helping to write it.
