The St. Louis Cardinals are headed towards being eliminated from the playoffs with just one week left in the MLB season. The Cardinals finish the season on a six-game road trip, and Sunday marks the team's final home game.

St. Louis has dealt with its fair share of problems this season, from starting pitching issues, low attendance, and Nolan Arenado drama. On Sunday, it was announced why Arenado was left out of the Cardinals' lineup.

Manager Oliver Marmol provides Nolan Arenado update

In what could potentially be, and presumably is, Nolan Arenado's final home game in St. Louis, he was notably missing from the lineup in favor of Nolan Gorman.

Cardinals reporter Jeff Jones issued on X that manager Oli Marmol said Arenado's body needed a day off, and they're still determining if Arenado could be used in this game somehow.

The rumor mill is swirling surrounding Nolan Arenado and the upcoming offseason. He still has a few years remaining on his deal, but he seems to be a hot commodity on the trade market.

St. Louis should be willing to move on from Arenado and try to get off some of the remaining money on his contract, and he has not been a very good player in the 101 games he's played this year.

Arenado is hitting .236 with 10 home runs and 49 RBIs. All three of those marks are career lows for the eight-time all-star.

He will be one of the most intriguing storylines to follow as a Cardinals fan in the offseason, as there is going to be a transition of power when Chaim Bloom takes over as the new president of baseball operations.
