“Neanderthal” is back!
Top European regional promotion OKTAGON returned yesterday in Frankfurt, Germany, with a card headlined by former Bellator title challenger Daniel Weichel vs. Abou Tounkara. But it was the co-main event that drew the most buzz—the return of viral sensationFrederic Vosgrone.
Competing for the first time since April 2025, Vosgrone wasted no time reminding fans why he became a social media phenomenon. The hulking Light Heavyweight stormed through Fabio Moraes in less than a round, locking up a rear-naked choke to keep his undefeated record intact.

It was a statement win for the 29-year-old German, but the post-fight press conference quickly overshadowed his performance. A visibly frustrated Vosgrone blasted the promotion, claiming he may never fight for OKTAGON again before abruptly walking out.
“I don’t know if I’ll fight for this organization again, they treated me like shit at every event,” Vosgrone said.
Reports suggest the grievance stemmed from his girlfriend not being allowed access to water during the show—though OKTAGON has yet to comment.
Vosgrone’s remarks drew a sharp response from OKTAGON double champion (and former PFL fighter) Will Fleury, who took to Instagram to unload on the viral star.
“It’s been obvious for a long time, Frederic Vosgrone can’t fight any real fighters, let alone a double champion,” Fleury wrote on Instagram. “Leaving OKTAGON before they match him against someone semi-legit is the only way he saves the image of being a fighter. Ultimately, this was OKTAGON’s mistake for trying to promote a guy who clearly didn’t have the ability to beat high level fighters just because he went viral on Instagram. They bent over backwards to find opponents who wouldn’t challenge him like in Prague, where he pulled out on 4 days notice. This is what happens when you treat a guy who can barely fight like something special.”
Vosgrone first exploded in popularity after his OKTAGON debut, with fans comparing his physique to a mix between Paddy Pimblett and Brock Lesnar. While the spectacle has made him a polarizing figure, the results speak for themselves: he’s 5-0 as a professional, with every win coming by way of submission.
Whether Vosgrone will continue that run inside OKTAGON—or elsewhere—remains to be seen.
