Today’s loss was their seventh in a row as they went from the prospect of going up ten games above .500 in an extra innings game against New York last Sunday to now just two games above .500 with six games remaining.
Sporting their powder blues for the final time this year, Texas got a dud from trade deadline acquisition Merrill Kelly (4.1 IP, 7 H, 3ER) while producing just two hits through the game’s first five innings. When the Rangers finally did get on the board and pull within a run, the Marlins immediately added on some insurance and Texas never rallied again.
Tomorrow is officially the first day of autumn as we leave this regrettable summer behind us.
