Eagles star avoids major injury in win over Rams: Will he play in Week 4? (UPDATE)

Eagles star didn't suffer major injury.

UPDATE: According to ESPN’s Tim McManus, Eagles right tackle Lane Johnson suffered a stinger against the Rams and should be ready to play against the Buccaneers in Week 4.

PHILADELPHIA —Eagles right tackle Lane Johnson suffered a neck injury on the first drive of Sunday’s game against the Los Angeles Rams and is questionable to return.

Matt Pryor has stepped in for Johnson. Pryor is a better guard than tackle and could struggle against the Rams’ talented pass rushers. He played the first two seasons of his career (2019-2020) with the Eagles and re-joined the team this past offseason on a one-year deal.

The Eagles can’t afford to lose Johnson, who is the best right tackle in the NFL. He was in the blue medical tent with the trainers for two drives and has since returned to the bench, but he hasn’t been cleared to play yet. Pryor stayed in at right tackle on Philadelphia’s third offensive possession.

After Johnson left, the Eagles didn’t score another point in the first half. The Rams have a 19-7 lead at halftime.

Philadelphia has one of the league’s most dominant offensive lines, but the unit would regress if Johnson missed a significant period. Neck injuries are always a big concern.

Johnson, a 2013 first-round draft pick of the Eagles, has made six Pro Bowls and five All-Pro teams during his 13-year career. He missed one game last season due to a concussion.
