Jets open as Week 4 underdogs vs Dolphins

The Jets try to right the ship on the road against the Dolphins

The New York Jets lost their third straight game to start the 2025 season on Sunday. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers started a makeshift offensive line and lost star receiver Mike Evans to injury during the game, but they still dominated the Jets for most of the contest.

After the Buccaneers took a 17 point lead well into the fourth quarter, the Jets staged a comeback. With less than two minutes to play the Jets had pulled within a touchdown at 26 – 20, but the Buccaneers were lining up for a field goal attempt that would have all but ended the game. Will McDonald blocked the kick and returned it for a touchdown, giving the Jets the lead at 27 – 26. It wouldn’t last. Baker Mayfield calmly led his team down the field to kick the game-winning field goal as time expired.

Now the Jets go on the road to face the Miami Dolphins on Monday Night Football next week. A road loss to the Dolphins would give the Jets a record of 0-4 to start the Aaron Glenn era and all but end any post-season hopes in September.

The Dolphins could be just what the doctor ordered for a struggling Jets team. They have played terrible defense and they have struggled on offense. The two bad teams seem fairly evenly matched. Barring a tie, one will emerge with a victory and some life, while the other will sink to the bottom of the AFC East and will already be bereft of realistic hopes for a playoff run.

Let’s take a look at the current odds for this game according to FanDuel Sportsbook. The current line has the Jets road underdogs by 2.5 points. The game has an over/under of 44.5 points. On the moneyline the Jets are +132 while the Dolphins are -156.
