The Islanders dropped the non-existent extra point in a lengthy shootout defeat to the Philadelphia Flyers Sunday. They’ve got another preseason game Tuesday, against the Devils.
Several picks from this summer’s draft were in the lineup, with Matthew Schaefer playing all phases (and receiving a couple of “Hey rookie, I’m an NHL ref” penalties). But Kashawn Aitcheson left the game and is “day to day” [Newsday] after being taken out by journeyman Noah Juulsen on an open-ice hit that appeared to get his knee:
