La Liga giants Real Madrid are expected to have players in attendance at today’s Ballon d’Or ceremony.
That’s according to COPE, who have on Monday provided an insight into the latest developments in the Spanish capital.
Real Madrid, as a club, of course boycotted last year’s ‘Golden Ball’ gala.
This came after word leaked that Blancos standout Vinícius Jr. had been pipped to the award by Manchester City midfielder Rodri.
Florentino Pérez and co. in turn made the call to cancel the club’s chartered flights bound for Paris.
This stance had given rise to suggestions that a similar boycott could be put in place this time round at the Santiago Bernabéu, too.
As alluded to above, however, this will not be the case.
As confirmed by Melchor Ruiz, ahead of tonight’s Ballon d’Or event:
‘Real Madrid will not send a representation to the Ballon d’Or Gala. However, it allows players who wish to attend to do so individually.’

❌ El Real Madrid no va a mandar una representación a la Gala del Balón de Oro
⚽️ Eso sí, deja libertad para que los jugadores que quieran ir, puedan ir a nivel individual
