Stock up, stock down after the New York Jets' 29-27 loss to Buccaneers

Here is the stock report following the New York Jets' 29-27 loss at the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday.

The New York Jets (0-3) did not have the kind of performance they were hoping for when they went up against their AFC rival in the Buffalo Bills last Sunday as they lost 30-10. With New York already facing an 0-2 hole coming into Sunday's matchup at the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (3-0), they had to make something happen if they were going to get back on track towards the playoffs.

The Jets did not get the result they desired as they lost to the Buccaneers 29-27, but it wasn't for lack of trying given that New York scored 21 points in the fourth quarter. One could argue that Tampa took its foot off the gas after amassing a 23-6 lead heading into the final frame, but quarterback Tyrod Taylor and company made a furious comeback to keep matters interesting.

Taylor, who was filling in for the concussed Justin Fields as the signal-caller for the Jets, had a slow start before almost rallying his to an exciting come-from-behind victory against a tough opponent. Ultimately, New York was unable to get the victory to avoid a dire 0-3 record, but here is the stock report following Sunday's narrow loss to Baker Mayfield and the Buccaneers:

Stock Up: QB Tyrod Taylor

Taylor, filling in for Fields, had a slow start to this game as he wasn't pushing the ball down the field, but he started to find his rhythm in the fourth quarter as the Buccaneers were trying to not give up too many big plays. Taylor finished the game having completed 26-of-36 passes for 197 yards and two touchdowns (one interception) along with eight carries for 48 yards.

Stock Down: RB Breece Hall

This is the second straight week where Hall failed to make much of an impact on a game after a Week 1 in which he totaled 145 yards from scrimmage. Hall had 13 touches (nine carries, four catches on six targets) against the Buccaneers on Sunday, but he racked up just 52 yards from scrimmage in a game in which the Jets scored 21 points in the fourth quarter and piled up 267 yards as a team.

Stock Up: LB Quincy Williams

Williams had to leave this game due to a shoulder injury, but prior to his exit, he was one of the best players on a Jets defense that got themselves together in the second half. Williams totaled four tackles (three solo), 0.5 sacks, one tackle for loss, one pass deflection, and two quarterback hits as he was all over the field prior to suffering his unfortunate injury.

Stock Down: CB Sauce Gardner

Gardner had his primary matchup against wide receiver Mike Evans and while Evans didn't necessarily go off, it was clear that Gardner had his issues sticking with the big-bodied receiver. Gardner did a good job of tackling (five tackles, four solo), but other than that, he did not have much of an impact on this game as Baker Mayfield looked comfortable throwing the ball to his side throughout the contest.

Stock Up: WR Garrett Wilson

Wilson imposed his will on this game and was a huge reason for the Jets being able to make things interesting in the fourth quarter due to the way he was able to create separation throughout the game. Williams caught 10-of-13 targets for 84 yards and one touchdown despite going against a Tampa Bay secondary that usually doesn't allow performances like the one Wilson put on them.

Stock Up: RB Braelon Allen

Sep 21, 2025; Tampa, Florida, USA; Tampa Bay Buccaneers outside linebacker Lavonte David (54) tackles New York Jets running back Braelon Allen (0) during the second quarter at Raymond James Stadium. Mandatory Credit: Kim Klement Neitzel-Imagn Images

Allen will remain the backup running back after this week as Hall is clearly entrenched as the starter, but Allen did a good job of providing some relief in this one when Hall couldn't get anything going. Allen took six carries for 30 yards and caught both of his targets for 17 yards so this was an encouraging performance from the young running back in a pivotal game.
