Conor McGregor is fighting for more than just wins and losses when he makes his inevitable return at UFC White House next summer on CBS — assuming he’s actually coming back and all the “nonstop” White House talk (from all sides) is not another “Notorious” charade to keep McGregor in the news.
After all, you’re not the same person “once you get that kind of money.”
Securing a victory over former Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 31 coach Michael Chandler, who is the current frontrunner for the Irishman’s comeback, could afford McGregor the opportunity to debut for Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship (BKFC) and “double or triple the evaluation for the company.”
McGregor became part owner of BKFC back in early 2024.
“This truly is the best Conor McGregor I’ve seen,” BKFC President David Feldman told MMA Fighting. “If he wins, if he looks good in that fight, he’s going to fight another fight. If that happens, then I would bet 100 percent he’ll fight for BKFC. Why wouldn’t he? What would he do for the evaluation of the company if he fights for BKFC? He’ll double or triple it and then he just doubled or tripled his interest in it and that’s way more than he’s going to get fighting anywhere else.”
McGregor’s return would certainly help cover this $25 million tab.
“I mean he’s going to get paid for it because we’re going to have investors come in for that fight and then he’ll get double or triple the evaluation for the company,” Feldman added. “It’s a no-brainer and a win-win for everybody. But he has business to take care of first and I do have to say honestly again, super, super focused. The most focused I’ve ever seen. I think that he’s very serious about what he’s doing with his comeback fight. He’s going to do that fight. Unless something really crazy, off-the-wall happens.”
Hard to imagine McGregor doing anything off-the-wall … oh wait.
McGregor will be just a few weeks shy of his 38th birthday when UFC stages its White House card. It will also be nearly five years since “Notorious” competed, which may explain why Chandler is the first pick for Connie’s comeback. “Iron” has lost five of his last six and looked completely outclassed in this one-sided ass kicking.
