It’s now a six-pack of incredible recruits
Another one.
On Saturday, LSU gymnastics landed yet another recruit when Josie Lynch announced her commitment. Lynch is College Gym News’ second highest rated recruit in the 2027 class behind Auburn commit Elizaveta Grebenkova. You will not agree with that once I present her stats since 2024.
Josie Lynch began her level 10 career in December 2022 at Gymnastics East in Bellevue, Washington. At the 2023 Washington state championships, Lynch won the floor title and finished eighth in her division in the all-around. She has not finished outside the top four in her division in the all-around at any competition since. At regionals, she won every event except bars, on which she finished second. At Level 10 nationals, she won beam and finished second in the all-around.
In the 2024 season, Josie Lynch competed in eight meets. She won her division’s all-around title at six of them and won at least two event titles in each meet. She swept the titles at the state meet, and then won every event except bars (2nd by 0.050) at Region 2 regionals, and won her division’s national vault, beam and all-around titles with a 39.150 AA score. Here’s more perspective on her nationals performance: her 39.150 was the fifth-highest AA score of any of the 681 competitors and was the best among juniors (level 10s before they can be recruited, essentially). In fact, her 39.150 was closer to Kailin Chio’s meet-topping score, 39.375, than it was to the second-best AA score by any other junior, 38.900.
In the 2024-25 season, one that began with a meet in December 2024, Josie Lynch competed seven times. She lost her division’s all-around title once. At the state meet, Lynch won every title except the vault title. In fact, her 38.650 AA score smoked every other level 10 gymnast at the meet (closest was Mackenzie Estep’s 38.350, and that’s the top incoming freshman this year). She didn’t compete at regionals, but she crushed nationals again. She won her division’s vault, beam and all-around titles. Her vault score was a 9.975, the fourth best score of anybody at the meet. Her all-around score of 39.100 was second to Arianna Ostrum of the 681 gymnasts at the meet. In fact, her AA score was 0.350 better than the second-best junior at nationals.
Here are Josie Lynch’s incredible numbers from her last 17 meets. She’s won the all-around at 13 of them and won the vault title at 11 of them. 2023 Level 10 nationals is the only meet of those 17 in which she won just one event, the rest have seen her collect multiple titles. She is absolutely dominant, and that should translate well to her time in Baton Rouge.
LSU should be done with commitments, but that’s unlikely to happen. While the 2028 roster is expected to have 20 gymnasts, there’s a chance that at least one person on that roster will be a Designated Student Athlete, someone who is exempt from roster limits. That means there’s a chance LSU lands at least one more recruit in this class.
