This situation isn’t quite the same as Naomi’s, but both are happy news for the wrestlers & a booking challenge for WWE.
On Sunday, Kylie Rae responded to a follower who asked why she’d vacated the women’s title of Washington state-based independent promotion Relentless Wrestling. She replied with an explanation, and some photographic evidence…
Because I’m pregnant
The news that Kylie is expecting her second child with partner Isais Velazquez is wonderful, obviously. But Relentless isn’t the only company’s who’s plans changed as a result of the blessed news. She joined WWE’s new Independent Development (ID) program last year when their first child was about a year old, and was crowned its first women’s champion last month with a victory over Zayda Steel and Zara Zakher in a Triple Threat on one of Game Changer Wrestling’s SummerSlam week shows in New Jersey.
But with 33-year-old Smiley Kylie out for the next year or so, WWE offered her well wishes vacated the ID Women’s title:
The WWE ID Women’s Championship is now vacant.
WWE ID is proud that Kylie Rae will go in the record books as the first ever champion and sends congratulations on the addition to her family.
Thank you, Kylie!
We’ll see how the ID program opts to handle this. Rules say anyone can challenge for the title, regardless of their WWE contract status, and if an unsigned talent wins either the men’s or women’s belt they’ll be signed to the WWE ID roster. They probably didn’t plan to put it up for grabs again so soon, however.
Regardless, we’re excited for Kylie and Isais, and wish them and their growing family all the best!
