Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo is ready to return for training camp after leading Greece to a bronze medal in EuroBasket play this offseason.
The two-time NBA MVP guided Greece on an impressive run, averaging 27.3 points, 10.3 rebounds and 4.1 assists while shooting 68.5 percent from the field across 29.7 minutes per game in seven appearances. He also delivered a standout performance in Greece’s third-place victory against Finland on Sept. 14, posting 30 points (9-11 FG, 12-16 FT), 17 rebounds, six assists, two blocks and one steal across 31 minutes.
After securing Greece’s first EuroBasket medal since 2009, Antetokounmpo will return to Milwaukee with the goal of leading a retooled Bucks roster to a deep playoff run. However, his future with the national team is uncertain.

Giannis Antetokounmpo gets candid after winning bronze
Antetokounmpo reflected on the significance of winning for Greece but was also brutally honest about what lies ahead with the national team amid uncertainty surrounding head coach Vassilis Spanoulis’ future, per Vasiliki Karamouza of Sport24.
“It’s probably the best accomplishment I’ve had in my career, and I don’t want to put you in a tough spot, coach. If coach Spanoulis is not here, I’m not here,” he said. "The moment he's here, I'm here. It's as simple as that."

Spanoulis, who played for Greece’s national team that won bronze in 2009, also coached the team to its first Olympic Games appearance since 2008 in Paris 2024.
Antetokounmpo, who turns 31 in December, played for Greece's U-20 squad in 2013 before joining the senior national team. He made his first EuroBasket appearance in 2015 alongside Spanoulis.
While his attention now shifts to the Bucks, Antetokounmpo’s international future remains an intriguing storyline for Greece.
