Mahomes has been impressed.
Patrick Mahomes makes incredible admission over Chiefs WR originally appeared on The Sporting News
There hasn't been too much to get excited about for the Kansas City Chiefs offensively through three games, as Patrick Mahomes and Andy Reid have struggled to score 20 points per game.
But one positive has been the play of receiver Tyquan Thornton.
Seen as the deep threat for Mahomes with Xavier Worthy out, Thornton and Mahomes have developed some nice chemistry that came to fruition against the New York Giants with Tyquan hauling in five receptions for 71 yards and a touchdown, which included some big plays in the fourth quarter.
And Patrick had a rather interesting admission after Thornton's game against New York.
"I knew he was going to be a good player, but he's even exceeding my expectations," Mahomes said via ESPN. "He's stepping up whenever the opportunity has been provided for him."

Chiefs have new ace in deck with Thornton
Coming from the New England Patriots, Thornton has already surpassed his stat line from last season, and he's played half of the games. Plus, he looks to be on track to have a career-best year with the Chiefs, having already totaled 171 receiving yards (needs only 77 more yards) and two touchdowns (one more will be a career high).
With Worthy expected to come back against the Baltimore Ravens, Mahomes will now have two genuine home-run threats that defenses have to account for.
Then we add in Rashee Rice in the coming weeks, and suddenly the offense will have a different feel to it. But the Chiefs have to stay afloat in the playoff race in the meantime.
And Thornton is certainly pulling his weight as he develops into a top weapon for Mahomes.
