Blacksburg, VA — So far so good for Virginia Tech interim head football coach Phillip Montgomery, who in his 1st game led the Hokies to a convincing win over FCS Wofford Saturday night.

Things get a lot more serious this week when they face the (3-1) NC State Wolfpack on the road…the game will be the first true road test for the Hokies.

Last week, tech football combined a defensive presence with offensive production for the team’s first win in the 2025 campaign. Now they know they’ll need even more than this weekend.

“NC State is a very, very talented team, and they’ve got a lot of weapons. We have to do a good job defensively of eliminating some of their explosive plays and an offense early. We’ve got to sustain drives. We got to go get touchdowns. Find some explosive plays on our side of it. Allow our guys to go do that. And, you know, looking forward to the opportunity to go play, says Montgomery. “

The Hokies and the Pack will kick off Saturday at 7 pm, and you can see it on the CW.
