Arsenal are reportedly lining up a €45 million move for Real Sociedad winger Takefusa Kubo.
The 24-year-old has established himself as one of La Liga’s brightest attacking threats and is viewed as a January transfer target by Mikel Arteta, according to a report by Spanish media outlet Fichajes.
Kubo’s contract includes a €60 million release clause, but it is understood that the Basque side regard the Japan international as central to their ambitions in both domestic and European competition.
Last season, Kubo registered seven goals and five assists across 35 appearances for Sociedad and he has addressed his ambition to "test myself against the best,” in Europe in recent months.
Arsenal plan to compete strongly in both the Premier League and Champions League and could decide to bolster their ranks in the winter window to help them attack both competitions.
Opta data shows Kubo averaged 2.1 successful dribbles per game in La Liga last season, ranking him among Spain’s most effective wide players and the tricky forward has a skillset which could bring a fresh dimension to Arsenal’s frontline.
Real Sociedad are unwilling to part with such a key player midway through the season, but Arsenal could choose to test their resolve come next year.
