Gehrig's final Yankees jersey to sell alongside Jackie Robinson's Hall of Fame ring this fall

Christie’s will auction the collection of Dr. G.B. Espy, in collaboration with Hunt Auctions, highlighted by the last Yankees jersey Lou Gehrig ever donned at the ballpark this October.

The Gehrig jersey was worn as he accompanied the team during Game 2 of the 1939 World Series, in which he did not play, having broken his 2,130 consecutive game streak earlier in the season after ALS began ravaging his body.

A pre-sale estimate of $2 million to $4 million has been placed on the lot.

One of the most important sports rings in history — given to Jackie Robinson in honor of his selection to the Hall of Fame in 1962 — will sell as part of the collection, carrying a pre-sale estimate of $250,000 to $500,000.

The plaque presented to Robinson for his induction sold for $48,000 in 2020.

One of four tickets authenticated by PSA from the final game of Gehrig’s historic streak will join the jersey, graded PSA 4 (MK). It carries a pre-sale estimate of $15,000 to $25,000. A lower-graded stub from that game sold for $13,145 in 2014.

Other lots include Casey Stengel’s 1949 Yankees World Series ring (estimate: $30,000 to $50,000), an extremely rare menu from DiMaggio’s Restaurant and Cocktail Lounge signed by both Joe DiMaggio and his then-wife Marilyn Monroe during their brief marriage in 1954 ($15,000 to $25,000) and a Red Grange Bears championship-era jersey ($100,000 to $300,000).

The auction begins Oct. 22 at 12 p.m. ET.
