Ohio State heads to the Pacific Northwest for a showdown with the Washington Huskies, and we have your preview and prediction.
After a week without Ohio State football, it's time to get back at it. It's the Buckeyes' first road trip of the season, and it's a tough one as the team heads to the Pacific Northwest to take on the Washington Huskies. And Husky Stadium is no easy place for opponents to come in and get a win. As a matter of fact, Washington doesn't lose at home very often. The program currently owns a 22-game win streak on home turf. Not to mention, those fans have heard all about how Oregon's Autzen Stadium raises the decibels, but Husky Stadium can compete with the best of them when it comes to noise level.
On the flip side, Ohio State has won 19 straight games on the road against unranked teams. It's safe to say that Washington hasn't seen an offense like the Scarlet and Gray juggernaut, and there is rumor that the Husky defense may be missing a starting linebacker and top cornerback. That could spell trouble when trying to contain the Buckeye attack.
It's another tough contest on the quest to get back to the College Football Playoff. Time to get ready for the Washington Huskies.

Ohio State potential game plan for victory
The Ohio State offense should be able to move the ball against the Washington defense. In the two games the Huskies have played against FBS opponents, Colorado State and Washington State, the defense gave up 21 and 24 points. Neither the Rams nor the Cougars would be labeled as high-powered offenses.
On top of that, Washington will be missing one of its starting linebackers in Buddha Al-Uqdah, who sustained a leg injury during the game against Washington State. Al-Uqdah has the third most tackles for the Huskies. If Julian Sayin can keep completing passes at a high percentage and with the emergence of freshman running back Bo Jackson, the Buckeyes should be able to put some points on the scoreboard.
On the other side of the ball, the defense must keep tabs on quarterback Demond Williams. The Washington QB is a true dual threat who has thrown for an average of 259 yards per game and has six touchdown passes on the season. But Williams can also hurt you with his legs. He's run for 220 yards and added another two scores on the ground.
OSU will need to have eyes on Williams at all times. The Buckeye secondary is good enough to keep receivers covered, but it's the improvisation from the Husky quarterback that can keep the OSU offense off the field. Nothing kills morale more than a QB scrambling for a first down on third and long. If the Buckeye defense can't keep Williams in check, this game will be closer than Ryan Day may be comfortable with.
Key offensive player for Ohio State
Bo Jackson - Running Back
Talk about bursting onto the scene. Everyone knew Jackson was good, but no one really knew how good after missing much of his senior year in high school with injury. Jackson has made the most of his opportunities and has looked like the most explosive back of the bunch. We wouldn't be surprised to see Jackson in the starting role Saturday in Seattle. At the very least, No. 25 will get his number called, and against a depleted defensive unit, Jackson could go off again.
Key defensive player for Ohio State
Sonny Styles - Linebacker
As we said earlier, someone will need to keep an eye on Husky quarterback Demond Williams, and there may be none better for the job than Sonny Styles. The Block O recipient is a tackling machine. And as a converted safety, he can move. It will be his job to keep Williams in check and make sure he's not scrambling for big chunks of yardage.
The Prediction
The Big Ten opener for the Buckeyes is a challenging one. The Huskies are 3-0 and have a 22-game winning streak at home. Nobody walks into Husky Stadium and waltzes out with a win. Should Ohio State break the streak, it will be hard-earned.
After a 6-7 season in 2024, Washington is eager to prove it can run with the big dogs of the conference. The Buckeyes have struggled with dual-threat quarterbacks in the past, but this defense looks different under Matt Patrica.
This will be Julian Sayin's first taste of a hostile environment as the starting quarterback. The Husky faithful will make life difficult on the young quarterback before he settles down to get the ball in the hands of his playmakers. Ohio State wears down Washington in the second half to move to 4-0.
Final Score
Ohio State 34, Washington 17
Line
Ohio State -7.5
