SAN ANGELO, Texas (Concho Valley Homepage) — The Rambelles search for the team’s first home win of the 2025 regular season.

Lone Star Conference play is just beginning for Angelo State soccer. The Rambelles entered its Wednesday night matchup versus St. Edward’s hungry for both its first home win and conference win.

Angelo State got damage done early, striking quickly with two goals in the first seven minutes. ASU’s Whitni Newbill scored the opening goal in the fourth minute for her first of the season. Three minutes later, Sanai Stewart added her third goal of the season to give Angelo State an early 2-0 advantage.

That was just the appetizer. The first 45 minutes proved to be quite entertaining. In the 18th minute, the visiting Hilltoppers cut the deficit in half via Katie Fitzpatrick’s header goal. 12 minutes later, St. Edward’s tied the game thanks to Annie Rocha’s goal.

Both teams caused plenty of damage in the first half, but neither could break through in the second half. The programs settle for a 2-2 draw on Wednesday night. Angelo State now finds itself with a 1-2-4 overall record, 0-1-2 conference record, still searching for its first win at LeGrand Soccer Complex.

Angelo State travels north to Oklahoma City for its next matchup on Saturday, Sept 27 versus Oklahoma Christian. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m.
