Competition at the 2025 Ryder Cup begins Friday at Bethpage but a day ahead of that, fans should expect some rain to fall at Bethpage.
FARMINGDALE, N.Y. — The 2025 Ryder Cup begins Friday at Bethpage Black, and as of now, the weather for this weekend looks splendid. However, Thursday is looking plenty wet, so much so the PGA of America moved the Ryder Cup Opening Ceremony to Wednesday to avoid the weather.
Wednesday was another great one, with highs on Long Island reaching 77 degrees and light south winds but Thursday is when the story changes. The expected high is 73, with low of 68, but as of Wednesday afternoon, there was a 96 percent chance precipitation and a 52 percent chance of thunderstorms, according to Accuweather.
The Thursday projection is "mostly cloudy and humid with a couple of showers and a thunderstorm; rain will be beneficial; thunderstorms can produce gusty winds."
When the competition starts, the weather should be grand, with highs of 80 on Friday. Accuweather gives just a 16 percent chance of thunderstorms Friday. Over the weekend, expect 77 on Saturday and Sunday with "pleasant with intervals of clouds and sunshine."
The expected Thursday weather did force a move to Wednesday for the Opening Ceremony. In addition, the singles matches for the Junior Ryder Cup, originally scheduled for Thursday at Bethpage, were moved back to Nassau Country Club, which hosted the first two days.
