Arsenal are close to securing a new contract for star defender William Saliba according to reports.
The ever-reliable David Ornstein of The Athletic is reporting that the player is expected to pen a new deal in the next few days after an agreement was struck between the two parties.
The 24-year-old has just two years left on his current contract and has been often said to be high on Real Madrid's wishlist.
Arsenal signed Saliba from Saint-Étienne for £27 million back in 2019 in a deal that has proven to be an excellent piece of business from the club.
After loan spells at Nice and Marseille, the French international returned to the club and quickly established himself in the team.
So far, Saliba has played 139 times for the Gunners, chipping in with seven goals from defence.
