Badgers experiencing all-time highs in certain category after 2024 success

The Badgers are seeing all-time highs with ticket sales after an exciting season.

The Wisconsin Badgers were one of the biggest surprises to the outside world last season, going from ranked No. 12 in the preseason Big Ten poll to becoming a No. 3 seed in the NCAA Tournament with a 23-8 regular season.

Unfortunately, they bowed out in a tight 91-89 loss to the No. 6-seeded BYU Cougars in the Round of 32, but it was still a successful season, nonetheless, that saw development from star guard John Blackwell and a top-tier transfer in John Tonje.

Now, heading into the 2025 season, Wisconsin has a completely different team, with nine newcomers joining the roster to replace the six departing seniors and other transfers leaving.

It’s another year of unknowns for the Badgers, as they’ll look to navigate with their new-look team, but one thing is clear: they have a big and happy fanbase behind them.

Speaking with reporters for the first time ahead of the season, head coach Greg Gard acknowledged that season ticket holder sales and renewal rates are at all-time highs.

“The fan base here has been terrific,” Gard said last week. “I’ve been getting reports on season tickets and renewals that are through the roof.  We’ve had many, many, several hundred new accounts and new season ticket holders. The renewal rate is at an all-time high, so there is some outside fan base and excitement around the team.”

The discourse around the Badgers was much different a couple of seasons ago, as Wisconsin missed the NCAA Tournament altogether in 2022-23 before getting bounced in the first round as a No. 5 seed to No. 12-seeded James Madison in 2023-24.

However, even with the second-round exit last year, there was a clear excitement around the team as the Badgers showcased a much-improved offense and consistently looked like one of the best teams in the country.

That excitement has picked up ahead of the 2025-26 season, as the Badgers brought in several enticing transfers, including point guard Nick Boyd, while retaining its top returning talent. We’ll see how they ultimately fare this year, but one thing seems clear: success on the court makes the fans happy.
