Nico Paz’s stocks keep rising but how long can Como keep hold of him?

Nico Paz has arguably been the best player in Serie A in the 2025/26 season. His season so far has seen him score and assist against Lazio, score against Genoa and pick up two assists against Fiorentina. His exploits have meant that Como are currently 8th in the table, one month into the new season. There’s a very good argument to be made that amongst all of Como’s heavy spending this summer, their most important piece of business was keeping hold of Paz.

Tottenham and Inter were amongst the clubs interested in the Argentine midfielder but Cesc Fabregas’s side managed to keep hold of him without too much hassle. The biggest reason for this is that Real Madrid, through whose academy Paz came up, still have a buyback clause for the player. Given his performances, it is highly likely, that they take him back next season and even though they might not use him, they could sell him to someone else for a big profit. The challenge for Como now, is firstly to get the most out of Paz while they have him and secondly, to be front of the queue if and when Madrid do decide to cash in on him.
