The Denver Broncos got good news on Thursday when tight end Evan Engram returned to the practice field and logged a full practice session for the team. That puts him on track to be back for the team on Monday night against the Cincinnati Bengals after missing the team's last game.

That is good news for the Broncos, but they don't just need Engram back on the field, they need him to be the difference maker for the offense that most everyone thought he would be.

Engram was nearly invisible in the team's first two games, catching four passes for 33 yards and having no impact on the offense. When the team signed him this offseason, it was immediately felt that Sean Payton had found his "joker", his supreme athlete that creates a matchup issue for opposing defenses.

Engram is one of the league's most athletic tight ends and the Broncos need to find a way to take advantage of that. Bo Nix has struggled in the first three games and he needs other players to step up in the passing game. For the season, the team has only completed 10 passes to the tight end position.

It's bad enough that Dre Greenlaw has been placed on injured reserve, but the signing of Engram has been a large failure to this point as well. It's imperative that the Broncos get him going in this game against a Bengals team that allowed 48 points last week. Having him in uniform alone is just not enough.
