Hansi Flick hits impressive milestone with Barcelona after Real Oviedo win

A half-century for the boss

Hansi Flick secured his 50th win as Barcelona manager on Thursday as the Catalan giants came from behind to beat Real Oviedo 3-1 in La Liga.

The visitors had to do it the hard way, after Joan Garcia gifted Oviedo the opener, but hit back thanks to strikes from Eric Garcia, Robert Lewandowski and Ronald Araujo.

Barcelona’s win makes it 50 in just 67 games for Flick. He’s the third fastest to reach a half century of wins behind only Luis Enrique in Helenio Herrera.

It’s an impressive record.

Flick shared his thoughts on the match after the game and reserved praise for captain Ronald Araujo.

“It wasn’t an easy match because Oviedo makes good transitions, but we defended well. I’m also happy that Araujo scored because I think it’s a step in his confidence, so he believes more in himself,” he told reporters.

“Araújo has shown he’s doing better than last season, but that’s normal. Iñgo and Cubarsí played many games together and knew what to do. Now we’re trying out different center-back pairings, and being able to choose is good.”

Flick will now be aiming to pick up win No. 51 on Sunday when Barcelona face Real Sociedad in La Liga.
