Wright’s Injury Not As Bad As Feared

The young striker will be out for 5-7 weeks instead.

Liverpool FC youngster Will Wright was forced off on a stretcher during the UEFA Youth League clash against Atletico Madrid last week. He seemed to have jammed his knee on the pitch.

According to club connected journalist Lewis Steele in his Liverpool Confidential column for Mail Sport, a timeframe has now been put on the 17-year-old striker’s recovery. He reports that Wright is now expected to be sidelined “for five to seven weeks” with a medial ligament injury. He describes there being an air of “relief” as the immediate reaction to the injury was that it could be something significantly longer.

After Giovanni Leoni’s season-ending injury earlier this week, a mid-November return is encouraging and very welcome news. The player joined Liverpool in the summer, after having scored over 50 goals across youth football for Salford the season prior. Hopefully, Wright will be able to continue his development after getting over the setback.
