Day one of the three-day event got underway Sept. 26 at Bethpage Black in Farmingdale, New York, where Team USA will try to rebound from its loss to Team Europe in 2023 in Italy.

What is the 2025 Ryder Cup format?
The first two days consist of four foursomes, or alternate shot, matches, and four four-ball, or better-ball matches. That means 16 points are available in the first two days. Sunday features 12 singles matches for a total of 28 points. Europe holds the Cup and must score 14 points to retain the Cup. The United States must win 14 1/2 points to regain the cup.
