Barcelona have announced that goalkeeper Joan Garcia will miss action for around four to six weeks after picking up an injury.
The 24-year-old has torn the internal meniscus in his left knee, an issue that came shortly after their 3-1 victory over Real Oviedo.
Garcia, who made the switch from Espanyol during the summer transfer window, has quickly risen to become Hansi Flick’s first-choice option in goal.
The Catalan club explained in their official statement that Garcia will undergo surgery, with his recovery expected to keep him out for over a month.

Blow for Flick ahead of key fixtures
This development is a major setback for Flick, who is already facing the absence of Brazilian forward Raphinha, ruled out for three weeks.
Barcelona currently occupy second place in La Liga, trailing leaders Real Madrid, and will have to cope without Garcia in crucial upcoming matches.
Their immediate concern is the home clash against Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League, a tie where his absence will be strongly felt.
The injury also puts his availability for the El Clásico on 26 October in doubt, with Barcelona potentially without him for that vital showdown.
In the meantime, Flick is expected to rely on experienced Polish goalkeeper Wojciech Szczęsny to step in until Garcia is fit to return.
Garcia’s setback arrives at a time when Barcelona need stability at the back, and losing their main keeper could impact their momentum.
The Spanish goalkeeper had been steadily cementing his role in the starting line-up, providing confidence and composure in recent matches.
Now, Barcelona’s season faces an early test of depth, with Flick tasked to manage without two important figures in his squad.
For now, Barcelona will need to adapt quickly, as the absence of Garcia and Raphinha leaves Flick with fewer options for vital games.
