Former Eagles' $51M pass rusher says his Super Bowl ring doesn't mean anything to him

Bryce Huff had this to say about his Super Bowl ring with the Eagles: “It doesn’t mean anything to me,” Huff said. “I have never even looked at it.”

Bryce Huff's Super Bowl 59 ring will likely come up on the auction block one day and sell for hundreds of thousands of dollars, but not because the pass rusher is broke. Huff signed a three-year, $51 million deal with Philadelphia in 2024, but the results were disastrous. Signed to replace Haason Reddick, Huff spent the majority of the 2024 season injured or out of the rotation.

A prize-free agent signing this time last spring, Huff was a major disappointment in 2024 and saw limited playing time due to the rotation and injuries. Huff had 2.5 sacks, missed seven games, and was inactive for the Super Bowl.

Huff was traded to the San Francisco 49ers for a 2026 mid-round pick pending a physical on June 2. Now in greener pastures, the pass rusher told The Athletic that he "hasn't looked at his Super Bowl ring" because "it doesn't mean anything to him."

“It doesn’t mean anything to me,” Huff said Wednesday. “I have never even looked at it. The last thing I want is a participation trophy.”

Huff's response is fair and expected, given that it was assumed he might take on a larger role in 2024 alongside Nolan Smith, with Brandon Graham retiring and Josh Sweat signing with Arizona. After the Eagles signed Josh Uche and Azeez Ojulari, Huff stayed away with voluntary off-season workouts, Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer reported.

Huff is entering the second year of that $51 million contract with $16.75 million guaranteed. The Eagles wanted Huff gone, and took on $9.05 million of his salary, as the 49ers are paying the remaining $7.95 million. Huff reworked his contract to facilitate the trade.

Huff had the game-clinching sack against the Saints in Week 2, then had a sack, a pass breakup, and five tackles in the Week 3 win over the Arizona Cardinals. With Nick Bosa out for the year with a torn ACL, Huff again gets a shot at anchoring a Robert Saleh-led defense.
