Mountain Brook converts craziest 2-point conversion ever to stun Homewood in Alabama high school football originally appeared on The Sporting News
This might be the single craziest game-winning play we've ever seen on a football field.
It took place Friday night down in Alabama.
Mountain Brook was hosting Homewood, and in overtime, it was Mountain Brook going for two and the win while trailing, 24-23.
The snap flies by the quarterback Cayden Hofbauer, and it's not picked up until he's back around the 30-yard line.
At that point, he loops backward further with multiple defenders in pursuit, going beyond the 40-yard line before turning back upfield.
He launches a throw off one foot from the 37-yard line.
And in traffic in the end zone, an absurd leaping catch by Bennett Jordan ends the ballgame with a successful 2-point conversion.
Just how they drew it up.
HUGE LAST PLAY@MtnBrookFTBL completes the 2pt conversion after a bad snap almost causes a meltdown they persevere to make the play.

The fact that the game got to overtime at all was astounding.
Mountain Brook went on a 94-yard drive in just a minute, and got a touchdown run from Hofbauer as time expired, to force OT.
END 4Q: Homewood 17, Mountain Brook 17

Holy cow. Mountain Brook goes 94 yards in a minute and scores on Cayden Hofbauer’s scramble as time expires. We are somehow headed to OT. UNREAL. pic.twitter.com/IKnaGP3DnX
And then the magical ending.
Sports are really darn cool.
