TNA announces dream match for X-Division title at Bound For Glory

Fans have been hoping for this match ever since the partnership between TNA and WWE became public.

TNA closed Victory Road with a special surprise to set up a dream match at Bound For Glory. Santino Marella announced that Leon Slater will defend the X-Division Championship against Je’Von Evans from NXT.

Hot damn! That match should be straight fire. It’s funny to consider a 20-year-old versus a 21-year-old as dream match material, but that is certainly the case. Fans have been hoping for a clash between Slater and Evans ever since the partnership between TNA and WWE became public. Without the relationship, this match could have taken years to make, if it ever happened at all.

First things first. Slater had business to handle in the main event of Victory Road (Sept. 26, 2025). He successfully retained the X-Division Championship against Myron Reed of the Rascalz. This match was a non-stop highlight reel. Roll the tape.

Reed executed a slingshot bomb off the ropes.

Slater caught Reed for a spinning Utopia bomb. The sequence of movement was so slick to set up the spot.

This next sequence is insane. Suplex counter to roll-up rolling into a suplex over the ropes maintaining the hold for a counter corkscrew stunner on the floor.

Reed connected on his Flame On flying cutter to the outside.

In the end, Slater took control for a twisting suplex and followed for the Swanton 450 to win. Slater and Reed had awesome chemistry for a breakout match. They proved deserving of the main event.

After the bout, Santino dropped the bombshell. He negotiated with NXT to bring in Je’Von Evans to challenge Slater at Bound For Glory. Evans delivered a message on the big screen. It’s about to get bouncy.

TNA made it official. Bound For Glory takes place on October 12 from Lowell, MA.
