Russell Wilson intends to stay with the New York Giants, but that stance could shift in the coming weeks.

On Saturday, NFL insiders Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo reported that Wilson "is expected to emerge as a trade candidate prior to the deadline on Nov. 4, the target of a QB-needy team in need of a veteran."

"Don't be surprised if another team wants to find out," Rapoport and Garafolo added.

Wilson now joins Atlanta Falcons backup Kirk Cousins as one of the top veteran quarterback options potentially available in trades. Both are considered valuable potential starters, especially as quarterback injuries continue to affect teams throughout the league.

Wilson has not requested a trade and continues to publicly support rookie Jaxson Dart.

However, that could change if Dart delivers strong performances in the coming weeks and solidifies the organization's confidence in him.

This development adds a twist to the Russell Wilson saga. On Saturday morning, Dianna Russini of The Athletic reported that the Giants have no plans to trade Wilson. According to Russini, Wilson has "earned respect across the locker room for his energy and maturity as a leader" since joining the Giants as a free agent in March.

Something surprising could be brewing in the Wilson situation as the trade deadline approaches.
