Real Madrid veteran finishes Atletico game with discomfort in leg; tests tomorrow

If the humiliating 2-5 defeat was already not enough, Real Madrid are returning from their short trip to the Riyadh Air Metropolitano with more problems.

As confirmed earlier, Eder Militao hurt his ankle during the loss against Atletico Madrid and is a serious doubt for next week’s UEFA Champions League clash against Kairat Almaty.

Now, it appears that another key player ended the game with some physical problems.

Carvajal has discomfort in leg

Indeed, according to journalist Guillermo Rai of The Athletic, Real Madrid captain Dani Carvajal ended the game against Atletico with some problem in the soleus of his right leg.

The Spanish international was on the receiving end of a stomp from Atletico Madrid’s Nico Gonzalez during the first half – a challenge that went unpunished.

While it is unclear if the problem is a consequence of that, Carvajal ended the game with discomfort in his leg.

As such, the veteran right-back will also undergo tests tomorrow, on Sunday, to determine the extent of the problem and whether it is an injury or not.

This comes as a major concern for Real Madrid considering that they have already lost one of their right-backs, Trent Alexander-Arnold, to an injury.

The Englishman is unlikely to return to action until November, making Carvajal’s presence extremely vital.

It must be noted that the club captain was already set to miss the UCL game vs Kairat Almaty due to suspension. But Los Blancos will still hope that there are no problems with their veteran defender, who returned only recently after a lengthy layoff.

Militao, too, will undergo tests tomorrow at the club facilities. If he is injured, Xabi Alonso will be left short-handed in defence against Kairat Almaty as Antonio Rudiger is also unavailable through injury and Carvajal is suspended.
