300 is a big number…
During Bayern Munich’s 4-0 victory over Werder Bremen on Friday, the game ended up marking the 300th Bundesliga appearance for both Joshua Kimmich and Leon Goretzka.
Goretzka started the match and Kimmich entered as a substitute in the 61st minute. Goretzka is happy to have spent so much time in the Bundesliga.
“I’m happy to have been loyal to the Bundesliga for such a long time. There were many ups and downs. I had 5 great years at Schalke. The time at Bayern has also been exceptionally nice. But it [300 appearances] doesn’t really mean much more than that,” Goretzka said (as captured by @iMiaSanMia).
For Kimmich, the milestone was significant, but just another stop on his journey as a player.
“That just comes naturally. It’s not a number you strive for. It’s just a number on a path that isn’t over yet,” Kimmich remarked (as captured by @iMiaSanMia).
Bayern Munich was the home side in the Bundesliga on Friday when Werder Bremen came to town.
The Bavarians decimated the visitors 4-0 in a game that was never really close. Bayern Munich was relentless and dominant in every aspect of the match. It is not as if Werder Bremen did not try, but the players just could not match up with the machine that was Bayern Munich.
Let’s get into all of the details — here is what we have on tap for this edition of the Bavarian Podcast Works — Postgame Show:
