Tetairoa McMillan injury: What status means for Week 4 vs. Patriots

Tetairoa McMillan is dealing with a calf injury for Week 4. We break down what it means for fantasy football decisions.

The Panthers head to Foxboro as 5.5-point underdogs after shutting out the Falcons 30-0 for their first win of the season in Week 3. First round pick Tetairoa McMillan came out of that game with a calf injury and he is questionable to play. If he can’t go, the Panthers will be extremely short-staffed in pass catchers this week.

Xavier Legette is already out, while Jalen Coker remains on the PUP list. Tight end Ja’Tavion Sanders is also out with an ankle sprain. Add in running back Chuba Hubbard’s questionable tag as well, and you have a MASH unit for Carolina.

Tetairoa McMillan injury updates

Saturday update — Panthers beat reporter David Newton believes McMillan will play this week.

McMillan didn’t practice on Wednesday and then got in two limited practices before getting listed as questionable.  Head coach Dave Canales said they wanted to see how he felt on Saturday before making a decision.

Fantasy football analysis

McMillan is a top tier receiver and a must start each week. He may get the Christian Gonzalez treatment and there is a chance he aggravates the injury, but that just knocks him down to a WR2/3 in my eyes. If he can’t go, it’s going to be a lot of David Moore, Hunter Renfrow, and Brycen Tremayne. Of that group, I’d only look at Renfrow as a full PPR start with low upside.
