Take a look at our staff predictions for the Kansas City Chiefs' Week 4 matchup against the Baltimore Ravens.
The Kansas City Chiefs and Baltimore Ravens are set to square off in a highly anticipated Week 4 contest that will see one team advance its record to 2-2, and the other drop to 1-3 — barring an unlikely tie.
Both teams were expected to be top contenders in the AFC this season, but have struggled to find traction through their first three games.
While it is too soon to tell if either side is truly on the edge of outright collapse, today's matchup between Patrick Mahomes and Lamar Jackson could prove to be a litmus test for both teams' viability as true Super Bowl contenders.
Take a look at our staff predictions for the Chiefs' matchup against the Ravens:
Ed Easton Jr.'s prediction
The Kansas City Chiefs continue their long-standing rivalry with the Baltimore Ravens this Sunday, as both teams aim to get back on track after three weeks.
The headline going into the game centers around the two-star quarterbacks Patrick Mahomes and Lamar Jackson. Mahomes is expecting to have back one of his top weapons in wide receiver Xavier Worthy. The offense will also need even more from the running game as Baltimore's defense is due for a strong performance, and the balance in the game plan is essential.
Defensively, the Chiefs' pass rushers will once again attempt to slow down Jackson and his dual-threat ability. The secondary will be counted on to replicate their performance last week and secure takeaways. A Harrison Butker field goal will likely be the difference in this AFC battle.
Final score: Chiefs 24, Ravens 21
Jon Ediger's prediction
Chiefs 24, Ravens 20: Kansas City's offense has been uncharacteristically subpar to start the 2025 season, but Sunday's matchup against the Ravens may give the Chiefs an opportunity to 'get right' against a struggling defense. The return of wide receiver Xavier Worthy should help lift Kansas City's scoring output, compared to the Chiefs' relatively modest performance in Week 3.
Kansas City's defense will face its biggest test of the season this week against two-time MVP Lamar Jackson and former NFL Offensive Player of the Year Derrick Henry. Jackson is one of the most exciting playmakers in the league and can consistently exploit defenses that aren't prepared for his outstanding improvisation and playmaking prowess. Chiefs defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo has had Henry's number in the past, but fans shouldn't discount the former Alabama Crimson Tide star's ability to singlehandedly take over a game.
This matchup will be extremely close, but the Chiefs should be able to secure the win in front of a home crowd at Arrowhead Stadium.
Final score: Chiefs 24, Ravens 20
John Dillon's prediction
Kansas City's offense has looked entirely out of sorts to start the 2025 regular season, and while I expect Xavier Worthy's return to help the Chiefs score more points, I don't think that the reigning AFC champions will be able to keep pace with Baltimore's outstanding offense.
Lamar Jackson and Derrick Henry will face a tough test against Kansas City's defense, but if any team in the NFL is capable of knocking off the Chiefs in a close game, it is the Ravens.
Baltimore's defensive injuries may be too much for the Ravens to overcome, but for now, I'll have to go with my gut and predict that Kansas City will drop to 1-3 before (hopefully) putting together a winning streak in the middle part of the regular season.
Final score: Ravens 33, Chiefs 28
