We break down the fantasy football outlook of Brock Purdy ahead of the 49ers’ Week 4 matchup against the Jaguars.
Week 4 of the 2025 NFL season is upon us and the action will continue on Sunday with the Jacksonville Jaguars visiting the San Francisco 49ers at 4:05 p.m. ET on FOX.
The 49ers are 3-0 heading into this matchup and most recently downed the Cardinals 16-15 by way of a walk-off field goal as time expired last Sunday. The team has been able to keep things rolling despite injuries to several key players like quarterback Brock Purdy, who is expected to return to action this week.
Below, we’ll go over Purdy’s outlook in fantasy football for Week 4.
Fantasy Football analysis: 49ers QB Brock Purdy
Purdy suffered both a shoulder injury and turf toe in the team’s Week 1 victory over the Seahawks and was promptly sidelined for the next two weeks. Backup Mac Jones successfully held down the fort in his absence and maintained San Francisco’s spot atop the NFC West standings with two division wins under their belt. Purdy was limited in practice this week and barring a last-minute setback, he should be good to go for this home showdown.
In the Niners’ opener, the Pro Bowl QB went 26-35 for 277 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions, generating 18.8 fantasy points for managers in Week 1. We’ll see how he performs in his return to action on Sunday.
Start or sit in Week 4?
Sit. Purdy is walking into a tricky matchup upon his return. Jacksonville ranks fourth in defensive DVOA through three games and is tied with Seattle for most interceptions with seven. Cornerback Jourdan Lewis in particular leads the NFL with six passes defensed while teammate Tyson Campbell is right behind him with five. If you had to find an alternate option at QB in Purdy’s absence, stick with them for this week.
