The Yankees celebrated a trip to the postseason this week.
For the final time this season, it’s Sunday, and you know what that means — it’s time for our weekly social media roundup! A neck-and-neck fight for the American League East between the Yankees and Blue Jays dominated the scene this week, and when this comes out, we still won’t know who will come out on top. What have they been up to during this intense battle? Let’s find out!
Postseason Bound
While the division is still up for grabs, the Yankees did clinch a postseason spot this week. Check out the celebration below:
Oswaldo’s YES Visit
Now mostly recovered from surgery to repair his injured ankle, but without sufficient time remaining to get back into baseball shape for the season, fan favorite Oswaldo Cabrera has been spending a lot of time around the team down the stretch. This week, he visited the YES booth during the game. In a three-minute clip, which is linked here, Cabrera talked about his rehab, the Hot Corner section of the dugout, and the love and support he received from his teammates, trainers, and fans throughout the entire process.
Honoring the YES Crew
Speaking of the YES Network, this week marks the final games hosted by the YES Network crew this year. These were the people who brought us together more than 100 times over the last six months, and deserve our thanks. See y’all when spring training starts back up in February!
Gerrit’s Concerto in C Major
Oswaldo Cabrera isn’t the only injured Yankee hanging around the team right now. 2023 AL Cy Young winner Gerrit Cole, who underwent Tommy John surgery prior to the season, has also been in the dugout recently, hanging with his teammates, going over scouting reports with the pitching staff, and, uh, having air instrument concerts, apparently.
What’s Jazz up to?
Yankees second baseman Jazz Chisholm Jr. posted a whiteboard on his Instagram story. What does it say? I haven’t been able to decode it, but maybe one of you can? If so, let us know in the comments’ section below!
One Last Question of the Day
The Yankees’ social media team had one last question of the day. Given what happened last month, it is perhaps fitting that the team was asked who in the clubhouse would be responsible for getting a squirrel out of the clubhouse. Not surprisingly, Ben Rice was nobody’s choice.
