Cameron Johnston injury update: Bills punter takes nasty hit to left leg on penalty originally appeared on The Sporting News
The Buffalo Bills picked up a crucial first down on the play thanks to the penalty flag, but that won't be what the Bills are thinking about.
Because to earn the roughing the punter first down, Cameron Johnston got hurt.
Johnston was back to punt with a nine-point lead and about five minutes to play.
New Orleans Saints special teamer Nephi Sewell broke through the line and dove to block it.
Johnston got the punt off, but Sewell crashed into his planted left leg, which was bent inward at an uncomfortable angle.

Cameron Johnston injury update
Johnston went immediately to the ground holding his left knee in obvious pain.
He needed help off the field and went straight to the medical tent.
He eventually emerged with a big brace on his left leg and his helmet on.
If Johnston couldn't continue, Mitchell Trubisky would be the holder. It's not clear if kicker Matt Prater would be the punter, although there wasn't likely to be another punt situation on Sunday.
Johnston is a 33-year old who is from Australia but did play college football at Ohio State.
This marks his eighth season as an NFL punter.
Johnston spent his first three campaigns with the Philadelphia Eagles, then three more with the Houston Texans, and then he appeared in a single game in 2024 with the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Now, Bills fans will hope their punter is OK.
