Josh had to put on his cape for a few moments.
Josh Allen's ridiculous run encapsulates unexpectedly hard-fought Bills clash with Saints originally appeared on The Sporting News
This wasn't supposed to be one of the games that Josh Allen needed to put the Buffalo Bills on his back.
But call his number and he'll answer, no matter the expectation.
The play that more or less won Sunday's game for the Bills came on a third-and-5 with eight minutes to play. The Bills were near midfield, leading just 21-19. The New Orleans Saints, two-touchdown underdogs, had just pulled within two on a field goal after a go-ahead TD was overturned.
Allen dropped back out of the shotgun, and the pocket collapsed immediately. The MVP knew what he needed to do.
He almost immediately broke through a parted sea of Bills and Saints linemen, and Allen was in full stride in a hurry.
He stepped out of one tackle, kept his balance, crossed the first-down marker, juked one linebacker, broke the tackle of another and then rumbled with two defenders on his back all the way inside the 30-yard line.

Moments later, Allen was tossing a dime down the right sideline to Dalton Kincaid for a touchdown.
And although the Saints didn't go down easily after that either, the Bills held on.

The Bills have certainly had a quirky path to their 4-0 start.
Week 1 was almost certainly a loss, but they pulled off a miraculous comeback to beat the Baltimore Ravens.
The next week was simple against the New York Jets, but then the Miami Dolphins put up a serious fight in Week 3.
This was an odd one, too, with a long layoff after a Thursday night game preceding a contest in which the Bills were massive favorites.
In the end, 4-0 is 4-0. The Bills have Allen, and no one else does, and that's usually enough.
On this rare afternoon game at Highmark Stadium, the Bills weren't perfect. But they're good enough that they don't have to be, and so they will move onto the next one with their record still unblemished.
