The nightmare continues for rookie quarterback Cam Ward and the Tennessee Titans. Sunday's 26-0 blowout loss to the Houston Texans showed things can't get any worse.
It ranks among the ugliest defeats in franchise history, with multiple unwanted records set along the way.
CBS Sports' Jonathan Jones noted it was the Titans' first shutout loss since 2019 and their worst in more than a decade.
"The Titans lose 26-0. It’s their first shutout loss since 2019, and it is the franchise’s worst shutout loss since the 59-0 blistering in the New England snow in 2009," Jones wrote on X.
NFL insider Ian Rapoport highlighted the historic significance for Houston.
"For the first time since 2010, the Texans have shut out an opponent. They beat the Titans 26-0," Rapoport posted.
In an effort to jump-start the offense, Titans coach Brian Callahan handed play-calling duties over to quarterbacks coach Bo Hardegree last Tuesday. But the adjustment produced no spark on Sunday.
Now that the Titans are 0-4, the pressure on Callahan and his future is mounting. It's likely the franchise will consider some drastic moves soon.
