The Jaxson Dart era for the New York Giants has gotten off to the perfect start with a 21-18 win over the previously undefeated Los Angeles Chargers at MetLife Stadium.
Dart, in his first start, replacing Russell Wilson, had a mixed day passing, going 13 of 20 for 111 yards and a touchdown, but as a runner, Dart was sublime, rushing for 54 yards and a touchdown on 10 attempts.
The Giants had more first downs (20 to 17), went 7 of 15 on third down, and had the ball for just under 11 minutes more than the Chargers. Running back Cam Skattebo was a bruising runner, totaling 79 yards from 25 carries, while Darius Slayton was the best receiver on the day, posting 44 yards on three receptions.
But while the win was great for head coach Brian Daboll, what wasn't was the injury to star receiver Malik Nabers, who, per NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, suffered an ACL injury while attempting a catch in the first half, which is just a devastating piece of news when the Giants finally had some good vibes going.

How long is Malik Nabers out for?
It is worth noting that Rapoport posted on X that Nabers "appeared" to tear his ACL, so there will be tests in the coming days to confirm it, but we imagine Rapoport wouldn't report that if there wasn't a distinct possibility of it.
Given the nature of the injury, Nabers' season, which is just four games in, is over, and depending on its severity, he could also miss the start of next year.
It is a brutal blow for the Giants, who got their first win of the year with Dart, as the narrative began to shift and the doom and gloom had lifted, but the football gods have a cruel sense of humor, as Nabers now appears to be lost for the season.
