Cagliari 0-2 Inter Milan – Italian Commentator Praises Nerazzurri Rising Star: “Young & Strong”

Francesco Pio Esposito was on the scoresheet as Inter Milan beat Cagliari 2-0 in their last Serie A outing on Saturday.

According to Fabio Caressa via FCInterNews, the young striker has the potential to become a superstar.

It took Francesco Pio Esposito five games into the 2025/26 season to score his first-ever league goal for Inter.

Indeed, the 20-year-old came off the bench against Cagliari, replacing Marcus Thuram midway through the second half.

Moreover, the Italian prodigy seized the opportunity, pouncing on Federico Dimarco’s low cross to double Inter’s lead.

In doing so, he helped Cristian Chivu post his second consecutive league win in charge of the Nerazzurri for the first time.

Furthermore, Esposito is now a genuine candidate to start in Inter’s upcoming Champions League clash against Slavia Prague.

With Lautaro Martinez still trying to regain full fitness, Chivu may decide to rest him tomorrow.

Esposito’s impressive cameo performance against Cagliari didn’t go unnoticed.

Indeed, Caressa spotted the youngster’s potential. However, he has urged Inter not to press the issue.

“Pio Esposito? I’ll just say: take it easy,” Caressa began. “We’re used to playing this little game.”

Furthermore, he backed Esposito to reach the levels of legendary Italian striker Christian Vieri.

“He reminds me more of Vieri, more of this… It’s fine.

“But then, take it easy: he’s definitely a strong player, he’s young, so let’s wait a moment.”

In addition to establishing himself as a permanent first-team fixture, Esposito is making strides at the international level.

Indeed, Gennaro Gattuso handed him his first senior call-up for Italy’s national team in September.

Meanwhile, Esposito must continue to work hard to fulfill his potential.

Luckily, Chivu trusts him and has already shown readiness to play him regularly.
