Baltimore is now officially in a tough spot.
What we know about Lamar Jackson's hamstring injury after postgame updates originally appeared on The Sporting News
The Baltimore Ravens are a ways off from where they would've hoped to be at this point in the 2025 NFL season.
They're 1-3 after their loss to the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday. And they've also got quarterback Lamar Jackson dealing with a hamstring injury that kept him out for much of the second half of that defeat.
In Jackson's place, new backup QB Cooper Rush took over. The Ravens scored once with Rush at the helm, on a long touchdown from Justice Hill. But the game was pretty much out of hand by the time Rush took over.
There weren't too many updates after the game, but Ravens head coach John Harbaugh was of course asked about Jackson's injury.
"Harbaugh said he has no updates on severity of any injuries," wrote The Athletic's Jeff Zrebiec on X.
And this insight from Zrebiec, too: "Harbaugh wouldn't comment on whether Jackson would've stayed in game if it was closer."
That latter point is intriguing, because Jackson was ruled as questionable to return with his injury rather than just being ruled out. He simply never came back in.
At some point, there are certainly diminishing returns in such a situation. The Ravens know they'll have to get going at some point, and they'll need Jackson more for their hoped-for hot streak than they would when trailing by 20-plus points to Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs.
A 1-3 start sure is far from ideal. The Ravens surely feel they should've held on in Week 1 against the Buffalo Bills, and that could've changed all sorts of momentum for them.
But the reality of their season is this: There are 13 more games to play. And most importantly, they need Jackson out there.
This week's early practice reports, beginning Wednesday before a matchup with the Houston Texans on Sunday, will be telling. If Jackson is right back out there, it's a great sign for Baltimore.
