The Detroit Lions saw a pair of starting cornerbacks exit the Week 4 game against the Cleveland Browns early due to injuries, but there was particular concern with D.J. Reed.

Reed suffered a hamstring injury in the contest and it initially looked significant, especially after the cart came out. Even head coach Dan Campbell expressed a concern about Reed's status after the game.

However, Reed's injury is not the worst-case scenario, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

He reported on Monday morning that Reed is a candidate for injured reserve, but he will not need surgery, which would have led to an even lengthier absence.

"The Lions are dealing with injuries to two of their starting CBs, with DJ Reed a candidate for Injured Reserve (but no surgery required)," Rapoport said.

Of course, if Reed is placed on injured reserve, he'll be forced to miss the next four games, at least. On the bright side, at least he doesn't have a season-ending injury.

As for Arnold, Rapoport added that the second-year cornerback "should be OK," so that's good news.

“We all saw Reed’s (injury). I don’t know what that’s going to be or how long," Campbell said after the game. "Certainly, I cannot imagine him playing next week at a minimum until we get more tests done. I don’t think TA’s (Arnold’s) a major (injury), is a major thing. I don’t know. There again, I don’t know about him next week, but it’s certainly not as significant as what Reed had.”

The Lions wanted to get Amik Robertson more reps on the boundary and now he'll get all he can handle.

Khalil Dorsey and Rock Ya-Sin are also candidates to get more run while Reed is sidelined, and they will be crucial if Arnold is forced to miss any time.
