San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan provided injury updates on both wide receivers Ricky Pearsall and Jauan Jennings and their statuses for Week 5 are now up in the air.
Ricky Pearsall, Jauan Jennings injury updates leave 49ers WRs' statuses for Week 5 in doubt originally appeared on The Sporting News
The San Francisco 49ers have a quick turnaround in Week 5, as they'll take on the Los Angeles Rams on Thursday night.
That's especially bad news this week because the 49ers have multiple injuries to keep an eye on, per usual, with wide receivers Ricky Pearsall and Jauan Jennings being in that group.
Pearsall and Jennings both entered Sunday's loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars with injuries but were able to suit up, and both exited the contest with issues, although Jennings was able to return.
On Monday morning, head coach Kyle Shanahan gave an update on both.
Pearsall is dealing with a "minor" PCL injury, Shanahan revealed, and the 49ers head coach noted that Jennings' status is up in the air for Thursday.
"Kyle Shanahan said Ricky Pearsall still must get his knee checked out but that the initial suspicion is that it's a 'minor' PCL injury. His and Jauan Jennings' status for Thursday is up in the air," The Athletic's Matt Barrows reported.
The Week 5 matchup between San Fran and Los Angeles at SoFi Stadium will be a battle for first place, as both teams sit with a 3-1 record.
The Niners were already short-handed in the pass-catchers department, so this it'll be a really bad situation if Pearsall and/or Jennings can't go.
San Francisco won't have the services of George Kittle, who is on injured reserve for at least one more game, and there is no telling when Brandon Aiyuk will be back.
Guys like Kendrick Bourne, Marquez Valdes-Scantling and Skyy Moore could all be relied upon for bigger roles if one or both players sit out.
In other news, quarterback Brock Purdy is dealing with toe soreness, Shanahan said. That's troubling because Purdy missed two games with toe and shoulder issues. His status for Thursday is up in the air, also.
