Darius Harris, Brenden Jaimes revert to Patriots’ practice squad following Week 4

Both veterans served as standard elevations against the Panthers.

Darius Harris and Brenden Jaimes reverted to the New England Patriots’ practice squad on Monday after serving as standard elevations against the Carolina Panthers.

What became a 42-13 win at Gillette Stadium marked the 2025 debuts for the linebacker and offensive lineman. Both vested veterans factored into the kicking game.

Harris, 29, played 16 snaps in that phase. His Sunday afternoon featured tackles on punt returner Hunter Renfrow as well as kickoff returner Rico Dowdle. The 6-foot-2, 238-pound linebacker signed to the practice squad a week prior to the opener.

Entering the NFL as an undrafted free agent in 2019, Harris made previous stops with the Kansas City Chiefs, Las Vegas Raiders and Dallas Cowboys. The Middle Tennessee product has appeared in 38 games, starting six, to total 61 tackles, 1.5 sacks and a pair of fumble recoveries. He also stands seven playoff appearances into a run that has brought three Super Bowl rings.

Jaimes, 29, checked in for six snaps on field goals and extra points by afternoon’s end. His gameday role coincided with backup center Ben Brown starting at left guard in the absence of ruled-out rookie Jared Wilson.

The 6-foot-5, 300-pound Jaimes joined the practice squad as the calendar turned to September. He has appeared in 47 games since landing in the fifth round of the 2021 NFL draft out of Nebraska. The former Los Angeles Chargers and Tennessee Titans lineman’s career includes three starts.

Two standard elevations remain for both. Any further appearances would require a move to the 53-man roster to take the field.

Head coach Mike Vrabel’s previous call-ups included rookie cornerback Kobee Minor, veteran cornerback Corey Ballentine and core linebacker Mark Robinson. The latter two have since moved on from Foxborough.

The unbeaten Buffalo Bills host next Sunday’s AFC East matchup. Kickoff at Highmark Stadium is set for 8:20 p.m. ET.
