Jets vs Dolphins Second Half Thread

The Jets go into the locker room trailing the Dolphins

The first half of the New York Jets game against the Miami Dolphins is in the books, and the Jets are trailing the Dolphins, 10 – 3.

The game opened with the Jets on defense and they immediately showed their mettle, giving up an opening drive field goal for an early 3 – 0 deficit.

The Jets offense took over and put together a long grinding drive, running the ball at will. Braelon Allen took a handoff near the goal line and looked like he was going in for a touchdown, but in a classic Jets moment he fumbled on the way in, turning the ball over to the Dolphins and wasting one of the best Jets drives in recent memory.

The first quarter ended with the Dolphins driving in their own territory and holding a 3 – 0 lead. The Dolphins methodically went down the field and put the finishing touch on a 96 yard drive with a Tagovailoa to Waller touchdown pass. The Dolphins led by double digits early and the Jets were in a precarious position.

On the next Jets drive the Jets faced a fourth and five at the Dolphins 36 yard line. Rather than kick a field goal the Jets went for it. It did not turn out well. Justin Fields was sacked and fumbled, giving the Dolphins the ball in Jets territory as the game threatened to get out of hand early.

The Jets managed to escape that drive without further damage. Nick Folk then closed the half with a career high 58 yard field goal, drawing the Jets within a touchdown at halftime.

We go into the second half with the Jets trailing the Dolphins 10 – 3.
