Illinois State was picked No. 1 with 478 points, named to the top spot on 32 of the league's 46 ballots. It's the first time the Redbirds have been picked for the top spot since 2001-02, and their fifth time overall.

Coming next in the Valley
The Missouri Valley Conference has scrapped its preseason Player of the Year and all-conference teams for a new format. The league will compile a so-called "watch list" with 20 players MVC worthy of attention for the 2025-26 season.
They are compiled from nominees sent in by the 11 teams. Bradley's nominees are most likely two of three players from a group that includes guards Demarion Burch, Jaquan Johnson and Alex Huibregtse and big men A.J. Smith, Corey Thomas and Ahmet Jonovic.
The MVC schedule is expected to be released later this week.
