The Denver Broncos got the ball to start the second half with a 21-3 lead over the Cincinnati Bengals. They picked up a first down, but not much after that and would punt it away from their own 44-yard line.

A three-and-out returned right back with the Broncos’ pass rush just dominating the Bengals offensive line.

On the ensuing punt disaster nearly struck for Marvin Mims Jr. who bobbled the fair catch call. The Bengals defender took the ball from his hands, but the officials called it fair catch interference. A very fortuitous outcome for Mims.

From their own 15-yard line, JK Dobbins picked up nine yards on first down and would pick up the first down on the next play anyway to get the Broncos out to their own 30. RJ Harvey got involved two plays later on a swing pass outside where he bobbed and weaved his way for a 15 yard gain. Ultimately, the drive was killed by an illegal block penalty.

Denver’s defensive dominance continued throughout the third quarter. They gave up a 22-yard pass on the first play, but then locked down. After forcing a holding penalty, Nik Bonitto fought his way through for a sack to bring up second and 27.

They’d pick up 10 yards on a screen pass, then on third and 17, the secondary held things down for what seemed like forever. The pass rush finally got to Jake Browning and he threw the ball away to bring out the punt unit.

The Broncos started their next drive at their own 7 yard line and the third quarter would end with them driving it out past their 40 yard line.
